Latest arrivals
Had a delivery of an assortment of Tamiya masking tape today from 1mm to 40mm, just in time for some painting.

I've also received some thin, 0.25mm, black plasticard, this is the thickness I normally use for interior trays and had been struggling to find it in black.

Car updates
I've done some more work on the AMT kits today, The Corvette now has it's white top coat and next it will be masking and blue paint. The Mustang is now Candy Apple Red but there is something funny going on with the Zero Paints and the plastic used for this kit. Apart from the moulding lines and a small patch on the bonnet the primer was good and nice and smooth over the rest of the body but as soon as I applied the first very light colour coat the bonnet and roof, along with a couple of other small areas, started to look like I's been over them with coarse wire wool. A second coat only seemed to make things worse. I've given it four coats with the last two going on fairly heavy and wet, this has hidden some of the marks but I'm now hoping there's enough paint to allow the rest to be polished out with cutting paste.

Car updates
I've done some more work on the AMT kits today, I've now primed both cars, white for the Corvette as this will be a copy of my MR Slotcar white kit build and the Mustang grey. I don't know if it's a reaction between the Mustang body and the Zero Paints primer or if it's moulding flaws but you can see the ribbing on the underside of the bonnet in the primer and part of the bonnet seems to have a different texture, I'm hoping it doesn't show through the topcoat when applied.

I've also give the Plymouth GTX it's topcoat, I've gone fairly light as I don't want a super high gloss effect. I've also started to fix the chrome work.

Kit build updates
I made a start on building some parts of the Monogram Atlas rocket kit, just some parts that can be painted as single pieces. I've ended up cutting the sprues into smaller sections as the are just so big but not well supported as they come. Also identifying all the parts is quite hard as a lot don't have any numbers on the sprue, or part, and a lot have detached from the sprues anyway. This is going to be a long kit when finally finished and will need a whole shelf in my display cabinet and I'll probably have to lay the rocket down on it transporter.

Car updates
I've made at start on my AMT kits that arrived yesterday which will hopefully become slot cars, just fixing the bonnets in place. The Mustang kit is a slightly better fit than the Corvette but both need reinforcing to hold them in place. Thje Mustang bonnet does sit on the body at both front corners but nowhere else and the Corvette just relies on the hinges at the front fitting through the radiator plate but as I'm not using this part the bonnet had to be reinforced all the way around.
