This is from the Third Edition of the catalouge...
This is from the 1977/78 catalouge...
This set was released with the First Edition Catalogue, but was not illustrated only listed in the price list at £3/17/6d (£3.87). This was the smallest set coming with the green Cooper and red Lotus F1 cars and matching coloured standard controllers. The original set came with four 45° curves, three standard straights, 2 crossovers and a power connector straight and some banking supports. Although the track had the sockets to take track barriers they were not supplied with the set. All parts came packed in cardboard trays.
By the time the Second Edition Catalouge was published the 45° curves had been replaced with 90° curves and the standard straights and power connector with a single double straight and double power connector straight. This still used the original three small pin connector with the socket sticking out from the side of the track. Everything apart from the straights and crossovers now fitted in to a moulded plastic insert with the strights section fitting in the box next to the insert. The set now cost £3/19/11d (£3.99).
The set stayed unchanged until late 1968 when the set received the Hi_speed versions of the Cooper and Lotus, the last set to br updated to the Hi-Speed cars, and the new Super Controllers and power connector track which had the plug sockets in the side of the track and the larger pins.
In the 1969 catalogue the cars are just listed as Hi-Speed F1 cars and not specified as the Cooper and Lotus and sold for 99/0d (£4.95).
The final late 1970's version of this set had the black plastic track and the Hi-Speed Honda Plus and Eagle Weslake Plus F1 cars and although sold under the Airfix MRRC Motor Ace banner was now a MRRC product.
