This set, Airfix's second release, first appeared in April 1963 and had been dropped but the middle 1965 at the latest.
This set contained a green Lotus and yellow Porsche F1 cars with colour matched standard controllers. The original release had 7 double straight tracks,a standard straight and standard terminal track. The curves were the new 45° outers and this all came packed in cardboard trays in the standard style box. Along with the Bottle of BP oil, banking brick, bridge supports and track barriers the set also included 2 flyover fences. The track used the new style nylon connector and sold for £6/19/11d (£6.99).
By the time of the First Edition Catalogue in early 1965 the set have been revised and fitting in the now moulded plastic insert tray was 6 double straights and a 2 piece chicane set, the rest of the set being the same. I think by this time the cars had acquired windscreens and chrome plated wheels and still sold for the same price.
