This was my first proper slot car which I got just after joining my school slot car club. The teacher who run the club was after some Meccano and I had a set that I didn't use anymore. I exchange the Meccano set for this Revell Mercedes 300SL kit.
The car only survived in this form for a few months as by then I had discovered vac formed bodys and the Revell body was replaced with a Mk1 Ford Capri body painted in purple and white and the chassis was mounted on balsa wood blocks.
The chassis was used for the rest of the school year and was used along with other cars for the next few years. I think this car was finally sold on when I purchased my first Parma car around 1974.
