Ford GT 1/32nd scale Scalextric slot car Race Tuned

This is the original Scalextric Ford GT40 model in white.

I got this car in either late 1969 or early 1970 and used it at the Cecil Jones High School Slot Car Club.

On Easter Monday 1970 the school club had at meeting at the Wonderland Raceway in Southend on Sea using the commercial figure eight track. This track had two steep uphill climbs with a right hand 90Â° turn between and then a left hand 180Â° hairpin followed by a downhill section. During one race I was a little over enthusiastic on the first part of the climb and launched the car into the air and landed on the track boarder on the inside of the downhill section. I doing so I broke one of the rear axle/engine mounting lugs and so came to end of this cars life.

I have now acquired a version of this car, again in white.
