This Car was bought new from Wonderland Raceway in 1974 but I don't think it came with the 917 body which would have been bought at the same time from Wonderland. This was my main race car at my school club (Cecil Jones High School) on our main Monday racing for three terms and helped to win the Club Championship that school year.
During most of the first term I was in a close battle with another club member and he was having a bit more luck than we, it was easy to get knocked of the track by less experienced racers. When racing together either of us could win so to give myself an edge i decided to change the motor.
Although the track had limited power most of the cars being used were normal set cars so it was possible to run a high power motor. This was a standard production can motor made by Champion, and again bought from Wonderland, which I believe was called a Block Power.
After a few weeks of the second term this proved unnecessary as the other boy's family moved away and this car won 1/32nd scale enclosed wheel class with ease.
I keep this car for some years after I stopped racing and put the original motor back in, which had been used in the 1/24th scale Ford GT40 I also used at the club. The Champion motor ended up in a radio control boat that I had.
The car finally missed placed in the late 1900's. I have now purchased a Parma chassis and a second-hand vac body to recreate this car although it will run on urethane tyres instead of the original foam rear tyres.

I have now purchased a new Betta vac body for the reconstruction of this car. The follow photo is of the new body on a Parma chassis but this is what the original car would have looked like with the addition of the #7 on the doors and bonnet.
