Although the car, with it's solid metal pickup, will run on my Airfix track it it does have problems and running is intermittent. I therefore decided to change the guide unit for a stand braid type. Getting the car apart was not easy as one of the fixing screws is under the guide unit and hidden by the new flag design. As the car had original been fitted with a normal guide flag it was just a case of removing the motor wires,. fitted with eyelets, pulling the guide out and fitting a standard clip in guide and refitting the wires.

A small video shot on my Airfix Monte Carlo Rally layout, taken 15/2/2021. Although this is a 12-14 volt car I run it, with out magnets, at 9 volts and use a 60-65Ω Ninco controller with brakes.
