Bought another Airfix Monte Carlo set but this one is far from complete. In fact all that is in the box, which is fairly tatty, is the track and a loose set of mountain scenery. At the same time I bought a spare full set of mountain scenery.
As I needed to take my existing Airfix track apart to fix a few power connection problems I decided, as I had a spare scenery set, to build another Monte Carlo layout. I could have used the track from one of my sets but as I don't like to use the set track, which comes in these sets, I decided to build the layout using my existing bronze railed track.
Track has been built as per the standard track plan but I have used all type two track, this is the type that uses the newer 'I' type nylon track connectors but still has the sockets on the track edges of the curves for the push in barriers. The only changes I have made are to use two track edge clips on every joint and to a borders to the bottom curves. I've also had to use a few of the later new style, type three, clip on barriers as I don't have many of the push in barrier to suit the inside of the R1 curves. The type one and two Airfix track, that uses the push in barriers, requires a different barrier for each curve, R1 45° inside and outside and R2 45° outside, the R1 90° curves use two of the 45° inner and outer barriers.
