Car updates
Did some more work on the Ferrari 156 today, just detail work. I have painted the driver figure which represents Wolfgang Von Trips, the car represents his drive in the 1961 Netherlands GP which was the first win for Von Trips and the first win for the 156. Looking a photos there appears to be a bit of colour discrepancy with his overalls colour but there seem to be more showing them white than light blue so I have left the driver figure white. Next time I print some decals I will need to do the badge for his helmet. The driver figure is now glued to the body along with the windscreen, the carb cover, I was going to paint these with a thin coat of clear smoke but have left the transparent, and I have also added the vents behind the carb covers. I haven't added the exhausts yet as these need to sit under the rear axle and while it should be fairly easy to slide the chassis out I will wait until the car has been tested and i don't need to remove the chassis for any reason.
Both the Ferrari and Lotus 25 will have a test run at my club track tomorrow, both are eligible for our 61-85 F1 class but with it's narrow track I don't think the Ferrari will be very competitive. The Lotus being unfinished won't be eligible to race but at least I see how well it goes.

Car updates
More work done on the Ferrari 156 and Lotus 25 today.
Pendle's say that you can use an axle stopper on the front axle to prevent movement and a small stopper does indeed fit but you need to chamfer the front of the front body mounting screw hole moulding and then when you fit the chassis to the body the body post is in the way so instead I have used NSR brass axle spacers on both cars with thin larger diameter steel spacers to protect the chassis and wheels from wear. The rear axle on the Ferrari chassis needed cutting down as the Policar chassis is designed for later F1 car with a wider track and this has now been done. I have also added a rear mounting post to the Ferrari body.
Both chassis are now mounted to the bodies and I need to add a rear body post to the Lotus and then paint the body, I will probably do the #4 Jim Clark car from the 1963 British GP but at the moment it's way to hot to even think about painting the body.

Car updates
I have quite a few F1 car bodies from the 60's including some Super Shells which are perfect for fitting out with Policar chassis and 3D printed front end available from Pendle's.
The first 2 I have decided to do are a Super Shells Lotus 25 and to change the chassis under the Super Shells Ferrari 156 Sharknose which at the moment has my own 3D chassis fitted. The Lotus can use the wheels that come with the chassis kit but I will need narrower wheels for the Ferrari and so I ordered a set of Mitoos classic wire wheels and tyres with the second chassis that arrived yesterday. The chassis kits come with a front mounting post and these have been epoxy glued to the bodies. Whilst the post is a good fit for the Ferrari I had to shorten the post for the Lotus and had to remove part of the rear mounting point/lower gearbox moulding.

Fitted some replacement tyres to some of my vintage 1/24th scale cars today as we have a vintage meeting at my club end of this week.
1/24th scale Ford Mustang

1/24th scale Ford GT40

1/24th scale Porsche 904

The Ferrari now has a pair of NSR Vintage Supergrips while all the others have urethane from Slot Car Tyres.

Car updates
As the weather was nice today I managed to get the clearcoat on the NSR Porsche 911RSR , mist coat of semi gloss the two coats of semi gloss followed by to coats gloss. With all the problems I had applying the decals at least the haven't reacted with the clearcoat. All parts are also glued back on the body
While I had the car apart I took the opportunity to change the motor and have changed the NSR 21k for a 25k, not sure of the brand. I have also change the rear wheels as those fitted were a little on the small side. Fitted a pair of Slotting Plus 16.9x10mm Alu-magnesium fitted with NSR fitted with NSR 17x11 Ultragrips. Will give it a test run at the club tomorrow.

Car updates
Spent a go 2 hours or more putting the decals on the NSR Porsche 911RSR this evening. The decals were very thin and with some of them being quite long and narrow I had more than a few problems. Some of the decals decided to fold back on their selves when being slide of the backing sheet and I just could not get them apart again so a few errors and bad spots.

Will hopefully give them a clearcoat tomorrow, fingers crossed for no reactions.

The Revoslot Porsche 911 had a problem at the rear which showed up when I tested the car on my club's wooden track. The back of the car was bouncing about and on close inspection the problem appeared to an out off square wheel, tyre or even a bent axle. As I don't have any 3mm axles or wheels and no tyres that fit the rimmed wheels on the car I put it to one side. In todays Pendles delivery I received a pair of Revoslot 2.38mm bearings, these have now been fitted to the cars along with a new axle and replacement wheels and NSR tyres. Although not eligible for any club classes I will try the car again this week at my club to see how it goes now.

Also in the Pendle's delivery was a pack of Plafit spacers and I have changed the front chassis/axle and guide mounting point, on the red Mini Sprint, and have put the spring back in place along with a smaller spacer, from this pack, which will allow a small amount of movement but nothing like the original setup. I have also had to reduce the wheelbase slightly to make sure the guide isn't visible from above.

Car updates
The Audi Quattro now has it's decals and clear coat applied and I've added most of the extra bits to the body. I've also made up the interior plate but as this car is for racing and the motor seems very tight to the interior plate I may well fit a vac-form interior. I've also made up the chassis and fitted a Flat 6RS motor with Slot.It gears, PSR wheels and NSR tyres. Looking like the guide may be a bit of a problem as the Team Slot guide has a spring around the post which means most of the guide holder is bigger than a standard guide stem.

Car updates
Having decided the weather wasn't that bad today I decided to paint the Team Slot Audi Quattro body and while I had the primer out thought I might as well paint the resin Alfa 105.

The Quattro primed nicely,

and took it's orange topcoat with no problems.

I haven't painted that many resin bodies and all that I have I've painted with rattle cans so this would be my first with the airbrush and Zero Paints. I don't know if I didn't wash the body properly, if it's the resin or the paint but I had a few problems.

Looks like I will need to do some sanding before I can even think about the topcoat.

Car updates
The Lotus 49 ran fine at the club tonight and is quite fast but the gearing is right, at least for me, and the rear end of the car was very lively. I think I will enlarge the gear opening in the chassis and go back to a 28T crown gear.

The Ninco XK120, even though only on temporary wheels, ran quite well and should handle a lot better once the I have ordered some new wheels for it. The rear wheels are ok but I had to use the original Ninco front wheels and axle which had quite a bit of free play.

Car updates
I have changed the crown gear on the Lotus 49 back to a 27T and on my home track it now appears to be running ok, will see what happens at the club tomorrow

The Ninco BRG Jaguar XK120 has now been fitted with an Amato 3D printed chassis and a Scaleauto 25K S-can Tech 2 motor. As the XK120 is front engine and has a deep interior this has now been removed and will be replaced with a flat vac-formed drivers tray.
